Dance masterclasses

A series of classes for young aspiring dancers and adults, providing expert coaching from professionals across classes including technique, repertoire and mime.

Site tour of the new RAD headquarters

As we prepare to move into our new purpose-built global headquarters on York Road, Battersea, join us for an exclusive tour of the new site with RAD’s Chief Executive Luke Rittner to get a sense of the scale of the new building and to hear how the plans are developing.

Tours of On Point: Royal Academy of Dance at 100

A guided tour of our display at the V&A, celebrating 100 years of the Royal Academy of Dance’s contribution to the development of British ballet and dance internationally. Explore costumes, designs and photographs from the RAD’s archive and the V&A’s Theatre & Performance Collection.

Mapping Dance and Dance Teaching: past(s), present and future(s)

4 & 5 September

Roehampton University

Timed specifically to coincide with The Fonteyn, this international conference, hosted by the RAD’s Faculty of Education, will bring together dance practitioners, teachers, educators and researchers to discuss, debate and interrogate the past, present and future of dance and dance teaching. Attendance will earn RAD teachers up to 20 hours of CPD – 10 hours independent and 10 time valued.

In conversation with the judges of The Margot Fonteyn International Ballet Competition 2020

5 September

Royal Opera House, Covent Garden
17:30 – 18:30

Join us for a special pre-performance talk with the judges of The Fonteyn 2020

Hear from the judging panel including head judge, Dame Darcey Bussell DBE, speaking about their life and careers. This will be an insightful discussion, chaired by Graham Watts OBE.

Where: Clore Studio at the Royal Opera House
Timings: Doors open at 17:00, the talk takes place from 17:30 – 18:30

For guests who have tickets to the final of the Fonteyn, the performance commences at 19:30

Please note that seating is unreserved, and some seats will have a side view. Children attending must be aged 5 and over.

Post-performance reception

Join us for a celebratory post-performance reception, held in the beautiful Paul Hamlyn Hall, attended by the judges, faculty, ambassadors and competitors of The Margot Fonteyn International Ballet Competition 2020.

Family Sunday at the Royal Opera House

Step inside the Royal Opera House for a magical day with activities and performances for the whole family. Celebrating dance over the last century, this special Family Sunday is created by the Royal Opera House in collaboration with the RAD.
